This tutorial leaves you with a picture that looks horrible. Try this to make it look good: 1. Select with a PEN tool for a perfet selection. 2. Copy the selection onto a new layer 3. Go to the original layer and blur the whole thing with gaussian blur 4. Flatten image. You get the "shallow DOF blur" that looks good, not like in this example where you have stray sharp pixels around the sunflower. Yeah… this is obviously for newbies. This tutorial leaves you with a picture that looks horrible.

It looks a bit out of place. Its pretty easy to do, just make a few selections with the magic wand tool, and is worth it in the end, for a better effect, otherwise a pretty good tut for beginners.
